tim golden message
Acts 15:9: and made no distinction between us and them [Jews and Gentiles], purifying their hearts by faith. In August of 1985 Tim Golden shared with Pat, Mike, and others who listened to his experience on a Friday night prayer meeting. Tim shared that God had done this (powerful) sanctifying work of removing the root of sin from the hearts of some of believers in our fellowship and it had happened to him too. Tim shared his own experience [I am paraphrasing his words here]. Tim shared: “Without understanding the theology behind it and knowing that he had been saved and born again found it easy to draw near to the aspect of God that is filled with love and tenderness. But when the Lord puts down the plumbline of Holiness, our flesh reacts negatively because there is still something in our flesh that cannot relate with a Holy God even after being born again and being filled with the Holy Spirit.” 1
Tim continued to say: “It is required of us to seek God to give us a new heart and a new mind: that God would take out of our hearts what is old, ruined and degenerate and that He would give us something that is holy, pure, and good.” Tim shared, “that in our hearts, we were a people who knew the bondage of sin and the devastation of sin, and that we don’t know how we could be free of it…. But God did have a plan to free his people from sin, for the sake of his own name…. Bring them back to Himself and enable the people of God to contain God’s glory so that His glory could be revealed throughout the whole earth.”
Tim then shared the following experience that he recently had while he was in his car. Many of his cardinal experiences in God happened in his car. He shared this; that he had gotten saved in his car; baptized in the Holy Spirit (when he was younger and while he was driving his car a phosphorescent light lit up the whole interior of his car and it became so strong that he had to stop and get out. He was then marvelously baptized in the Holy Spirit).
Now the Lord had very recently done a deeper work of sanctification of his heart while in his car. For Tim this was important for us to know (and understand) that if we didn’t receive the impartation of a pure heart we would not be going anywhere in the Holy Spirit. Tim taught partially that without a pure heart our prayers to God would be tainted. Sort of like water rushing through a dirty pipe… the prayers being the water and the pipe being our hearts. Then when the waters got to the other side, which is where God was waiting; they would be dirty or tainted [by self-interest].”
Tim then began to share what had happened to him as he was driving. He was praying, “God, do this in your people (purify their hearts) and do it in me.” Tim shared that he began to have a vision where he was laid out before the Lord and Lord cut him open and the Lord reached into his chest and pulled out this thing that was hard and grey and it had crevices and cracks in it. It was a hard, dead stone and that was his heart. The Lord then pulled it out and cast it aside. Then He held His hand out and there was a big ball of light in His hands. He lowered the light toward Tim’s chest and as He was lowering it, the Light started to become transparent light to where you could see through it and it was alive. It was like uncreated light. It was not the heavy light of the sun, but it was uncreated pure and perfect light of the Lord that God put it into Tim’s chest. Tim asked the Lord, “Lord what is this?
The Lord said to Tim, “I have given you a new heart.”
Now Tim shared this experience that he had one on one with Pat and Pat believed that the Lord had powerfully touched Tim. 2 After the message Noel got up and encouraged everyone about the experience of sanctification. He shared that each person’s experience would be different according to their personality, but what would be common for all who experienced it would be the witness of the Holy Spirit that this had taken place.
Now God used Tim Golden to be a powerful conduit of the Lord’s presence. One day, Chris Burge was in need of prayer, and he raised his hand for prayer and Tim came over and prayed for Chris. As Tim laid his hand upon Chris felt the Lord flooding him with His presence. Chris knew that this guy was really close to the Lord. 3 Around this time a young man moved from Wisconsin named (N/C) George Grizman, to get involved with the prayer room and the activity surrounding SKCF and his first stop was living in Tim Golden’s basement.
