the promise of a house of prayer
In May of 1983 another spiritually significant event took place while Mike was meditating and praying silently on Psalms 27:4 “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall I seek. That I may dwell in the land of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the Lord and mediate in His temple.” Mike just prayed this silently all day and never prayed it on the microphone. Then the next day Bob came up to Mike and said, “The Lord wanted you to know he says, ‘yes’”
Mike asked, “Yes to what?”
Bob said, “To the prayer that He gave you yesterday. The one that you didn’t pray on the microphone: Psalms 27:4.” Mike’s jaw just dropped. And Bob continued to say the Lord was going to establish Mike in 24-hour prayer. Then Mike asked 24/7-hour prayer? Bob continued to say, “You don’t understand this, but for the Lord, this is what this is all about—24-hour prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.
Then Mike said, “Bob, how did you get that?”
Bob said emphatically, “The Lord told me.”
Mike asked, “Well how did you get that from Scripture?” Then Bob said, “Lord is going to put the songbirds in their place, and He is going to cause them to be in unity with Heaven.” Then Bob opened the Scriptures up to Mike, “Do you know what David’s ministry really was? Do you know about prophetic singers? Do you know that he had 4000 musicians and singers?” Bob continued to speak, “The Lord said, ‘That I will set my face on this House and He is going to raise up a house of musicians in Kansas City and when they behold the beauty of the Lord as they worship, the Lord will release signs and wonders all around them.’”
Then Mike said, “Well Bob what I think we are doing is praying for revival and not to have a prayer meeting.”
Then Bob said, “No the Lord is going to give you a building, and he is going to take the minstrels and the intercessors and bring them together with revival and the two shall become one.”
As these experiences were conveyed to everyone in the fellowship, there was a sense of excitement that prevailed over all that they were a part of something historic in God’s kingdom. A vision for the future birth of a 24-hour-a-day house of prayer was what seemed to be the result of this spiritual experience that Mike had with Bob Jones.
Then Bob said, “Do you know the Lord told me? ‘That there is not a prayer meeting in this city in which a young man can go and find deliverance.’” Bob continued to prophecy, “But in the days to come, God is going to raise up a prayer room in this city in which angels will appear. And when a young person walks into this prayer meeting, the demons will immediately be thrown out of him, the flash of the Glory of God will hit their minds, and they will be wiped clean of sin in an instant. And in time, there will be a time that large groups will gather together in this place and a man will walk on stage, say nothing and then suddenly in the silence, the power of God will fall upon the people in mass and great signs and wonders will take place. Then on another occasion, there will be someone who gets up and preaches. The Glory of God will fall, and many unbelievers will get saved. And at that time, the most demonized crazy young man will be set free in a just a moment—with one touch of the Glory of God when he walks into the prayer room.”
Bob said, “You can take this to the bank in that this going to happen. This will become the rule, and this will become perpetual, and it will never come to an end.”
Mike said, “Wow, I am still thinking about a prayer meeting and evangelistic crusades this summer.”
Then Bob responded, “Don’t do that. What I am saying to you is that what God is saying to you, is that He wants a night and day prayer 24 hour a day prayer furnace.”
Mike said, “Yea but I don’t really have a grid for this.”
But Bob said, “No, this is about the world harvest and the birthing of the church in Israel.”
Mike said, “I just want to see a thousand people saved this summer.”
But Bob said, “You just don’t understand. ‘God wants to raise up the ‘Spirit of the Tabernacle of David’ in this place.’”
