The Jubilee Fast - bbp revisted
There was no one who promoted Mike Bickle and the House of Prayer more than Deberah Perkins (Heibert). According to Mike Brumback, she was the strongest advocate of House of Prayer and Mike Bickle. She was joyful and always had a smile on her face. She radiated the love of God. At conferences that the House of Prayer started to host she was up front and spoke often. It was like she had an anointing to be on stage and she thrived in these settings. She also helped Mike write The Seven Longings of the Human Heart.1
Mike Bickle came up with the Global Bridegroom Fast (GBF), which is a monthly three-day “global solemn assembly,” with a purpose to unify believer’s hearts in the Holy Spirit in worship, prayer, and fasting this was something she promoted. This fast was supposed to be a worldwide concert of prayer that sought the Lord’s face, at the same time, with the same burdens, and in the same Spirit. The fast is held the first Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of every month. During December, IHOP staff members were too fast for seven days, which would add up to a total of forty days of fasting a year to complete the GBF. This fast is/was to last for the rest of time, or until the Lord comes back. For people that are just normal church members it is strictly voluntary. Sisters Dana Chandler and Debra Perkins explained that fasting would allow our minds to be illuminated by divine revelation, and that “our desire for God would expand and increase.”
Then in mid-September of 2002, when it was getting close to the three-year mark for IHOP going 24/7, Debra Perkins (Hiebert) brought an idea to Mike’s attention of IHOP going on a long fast, because she felt that the Lord had spoken to her about this. Debra had several dreams about going on a long fast, and she was very certain that IHOP was supposed to do this. The idea of going on a long fast for Mike was not in his heart. But on September 18th, 2002, while Mike was out with his wife watching the play “Les Misérables,” Mike started to feel the wind and the fire upon him during the midst of the play. Mike then started to see a clear vision in his mind: a picture of September 19th and November 7th, and then he heard the Lord speak, “Jubilee, I am going to release the promises. Jubilee, I am going to release the promises.”
Mike got up and started to walk around, and when he got home from the play, he counted the days on the calendar from Sept 19th to November 7th, and it added up to fifty days. Concerning timing, this was also the twenty-year mark of when the Lord started Mike and the movement off back in 1982. This was a fast that needed to be started immediately. The next day, Mike got with the IHOP staff members, and they were all excited about this opportunity. Their response to Mike’s invitation to an extended time of seeking God was, “Yes.” At the end of the time of seeking God for these fifty days, Mike again went through the history of SKCF/KCF/MVF/MCF and IHOP…or the movement that God wanted him to champion through these institutions.
Mike’s motivation in the fall of 2002 was to encourage people in the prophetic and walk out 1 Timothy 1:18 “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.” In other words, the prophetic words received in the past were given to us to motivate us to pray for them to come to pass in real time. The question was asked then concerning those past words prophesied. “Well, were these prophecies given for IHOP or MCF?” But Mike said that these prophecies were not for MCF or IHOP, but for Kansas City and the Midwest, and some even for St. Louis and the nation too. The believers in those areas would be moved together with a great spirit of unity with all their hearts to build a prayer furnace which would include healing rooms, feeding the poor, seeing the Lord move in real power, and to see 24/7 fasting and prayer teams functioning in ten to twelve key regions in the Midwest.
The Lord was rallying together a Joel 2 type people, with the examples of Anna and Simeon from the New Testament and calling us together in prayer to pray for birthing of the church in Israel. This would be a preemptive strike against armies of the Antichrist. At that moment, concerning what Mike was saying, he wanted to make a stand and allow the chips to fall where they may, concerning the prophetic history of the prayer movement and the history of MCF [SKCF, KCF, MVF] and IHOP. Mike was eager to believe what God had said, not debate it, but to go forth in faith and begin seeing some of these things that had been prophesied come to pass, including the promise of John 14:12, “Greater Works than these shall you do because I go to my Father.”
Day forty-seven of the fast was probably the most important day of this time of seeking God at the dedication prayer service. At the 10 a.m. prayer meeting people, were encouraged to follow this verse, Isaiah 66:2, “...But on this will I look: On him who is poor and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” Mike thought the meaning of this was found in Philippians 3:13, “…one thing that I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things that are ahead.” What he meant by that is that “we forget our dedication, and we forget our weakness and failures as well. We esteem His Word over us and His dedication towards us. We esteem His ‘weakness’, in that Jesus became a man and became poor and weak for us, so that we may become rich and strong in Him through His sacrifice for us on the cross. We simply take God at his word, even with our sin, in that His sacrifice for us on the cross was totally sufficient to cleanse us and wash us from our sins.”2
Then during the staff meeting, Debra Perkins (Hiebert) came up and took the microphone and said, “I had a dream on May 4th, 2001, about 18 months ago. In the dream, we were on a long fast, and you (Mike) stood up and proclaimed, ‘We have to be a people who tremble. We have to be a people who tremble! We have to be a people who bow before the Word of God.’ In the dream, you were reading Isaiah 66:2. Also, you started to proclaim there is going to be an IHOP in the North, one in the South, one in the East, and one in the West.” Finally, Mike proclaimed, “The Blueprint prophecy begins right now!” Later I discovered that Debra also had a dream around the same time about a huge black horse attacking IHOPKC, which she shared years later, which seemed to clearly link Mike’s Sept 1984 black horse experience with Augustine.3
Then Debra said to Mike and the rest of the staff members, “This is happening right now, before everyone’s eyes.” Now Mike believed and shared that he had plans for there to be IHOPs in the Midwest at the time which he saw as a fulfillment of that. Mike was alerted to one line in the Blueprint prophecy that he received eighteen years prior, which was one of the first lines that said, “Do not begin until God confirms it.” So, one of his motivations for proclaiming the Blueprint prophecy was as Mike said, “You must proclaim it, what you are going to stand true to. If you keep it secret, you will waiver under pressure.”
So, on the fiftieth and last night, which was November 7th, the Blueprint prophecy was to begin, and at that moment the IHOPKC leadership were standing in agreement with what they believed God has spoken to them. Mike also mentioned Tim Golden, Tim’s history, and value, and Mike publicly affirmed and honored Fran.
Mike proclaimed and explained his understanding to everyone present that the Blueprint prophecy that he received back in March of 1984 was for the Body of Christ in Kansas City, not just MCF or IHOP. The Blueprint prophecy spoke of the House of Prayer, Joseph Company, Forerunner Spirit, and Shiloh. What Mike shared was that IHOP was rooted in a plan that went back nearly two decades and was bigger than just the last few years. But years later, Mike shared that he wasn’t sure about the four corners of the city part of the prophecy.4 As far as I could observe, there did not seem to be any additional walking out of the Blueprint prophecy, as I was focused on the four corners part of the prophecy (I thought this was very important). But Eddie Boasso didn’t hear it that way. The focus for them then was the house of prayer and that it would be a learning and teaching center and that IHOP was in fulfillment of some of that prophecy. People were encouraged by the language but didn’t see the need for another building in another part of the city. At that time, the focus of IHOP was the process of making their new Red Bridge road facility ready.Around this time was when Eddie Boasso got an e mail from Mike and then moved to Kansas City and with the help of Ann House, he found a place to live with Todd Ganovski, Murray Hiebert (anointed worship leaders) and Tommy Hood. Eddie quickly got integrated with leadership and the community life of the IHOPKC community. Soon Eddie had a powerful dream that connected him with Bob Hartley. 6
Shortly after this Mike preached on the city church. He was very adamant in the message that the Lord sees one Church in the city with many expressions and that the Lord was going to raise up many apostles from this movement as he had made it clear to us in the pass. He also shared on the need to remove seeds of hindrance from our hearts.7
